Burns Latino Studies Academy Celebrates Lights on Afterschool
Burns Latino Studies Academy organized their first Lights on Afterschool, a nationwide event to celebrate the importance of afterschool programs. The event, held in the Griffin Dunne Auditorium at Burns Latino Studies Academy, featured dance performances, games for students and families, and a slideshow presentation highlighting the COMPASS afterschool program. The event was also represented by the Hartford City Ballet, and included keynote remarks from Hartford City Councilman Joel Cruz. Mr. Cruz reflected on how programs like COMPASS positively – and profoundly – shaped his personal trajectory, and shared words of encouragement for the students in attendance.
